the left-leaning mainstream media is treating the latest resignation of a Trump administration official as a \u201csign\u201d that trouble is brewing within the administration, the reality appears to be much less dramatic.<\/p>\n

A senior aide to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday that he is leaving the Trump administration after approximately one year at the Pentagon.<\/p>\n

Ron Moeller, deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategic readiness, said in a post on X that he had always intended to serve in the position for about one year.<\/p>\n

Moeller was sworn into the role last August and indicated that his departure is consistent with that original timeline.<\/p>\n

In announcing his resignation, Moeller also pledged not to publicly discuss sensitive details about his time inside the administration, signaling that he does not intend to become a critic of Hegseth or the Pentagon after leaving government.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I submitted my formal resignation as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Strategic Readiness,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I took on this task for @POTUS, @SecWar, & @USW_PR_HONTata, I promised a year; another year away from my wife whom I miss dearly. The resignation takes effect in 2 weeks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI intend to go back to the Black Hills, recharge, chop lots of firewood for the winter, and ignore any and all journalists trying to get me to talk about my time in this historic and consequential administration,\u201d Moeller continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those of you expecting some sort of Joe Kent career suicide, I\u2019m afraid you\u2019ll be sadly disappointed,\u201d Moeller added in another X post, referring to the former National Counterterrorism Center director who resigned over his opposition to the Iran war.<\/p>\n

Moeller brought decades of military, intelligence, and national security experience to his Pentagon position.<\/p>\n

He began his government career as an Air Force intelligence specialist in the 1970s before joining the CIA, where he later served as a paramilitary operations officer.<\/p>\n

Moeller went on to hold multiple positions and complete numerous overseas assignments during his lengthy career with the intelligence agency.<\/p>\n

He retired from the CIA in 2013 after decades of government service.<\/p>\n

Moeller\u2019s \u201cblend of intelligence experience and time spent in war zones provides him with a unique perspective on readiness, training, and professional education, all grounded in supporting the President\u2019s policies of America First and the Secretary\u2019s restoration of the warrior ethos,\u201d his biography states.<\/p>\n

At the Pentagon, Moeller served under Anthony Tata, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.<\/p>\n

Tata, in turn, reported through the Defense Department\u2019s leadership structure to Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg, Hegseth\u2019s second-in-command.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hegseth is reportedly considering a move that could dramatically reshape the emerging battle over who eventually inherits President Donald Trump\u2019s MAGA coalition.<\/p>\n

The report immediately sparked speculation that another heavyweight could join what may become a crowded Republican presidential field.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon is strongly disputing the story, however, and Hegseth himself issued an emphatic denial after it was published.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecretary Hegseth is not running for president, and his main priority is leading the War Department,\u201d a Pentagon spokesperson told NBC News.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll other speculation is foolish,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

Hegseth personally responded after the report was published and was even more forceful in his denial.<\/p>\n

\u201c100% false,\u201d Hegseth wrote on X.<\/p>\n
