Donald Trump was trying to rally Republicans behind his handpicked Senate candidate Friday night when one man in the crowd delivered a message of his own.
And he didn’t need a microphone, lol.
Trump was speaking in South Carolina, on behalf of Sen. Darline Graham, ahead of next Tuesday’s Republican Senate runoff, when a disturbance broke out in the crowd and Trump stopped speaking.
Video from the rally shows one man standing amid the commotion with his back to the camera, both arms raised and both middle fingers extended in Trump’s direction in a glorious, televised double-bird.
Then you notice the shirt of the guy next to him.
“KILL YOUR LOCAL PEDOPHILE,” it reads in enormous white letters across his back.
According to reports, the t-shirt guy was among protesters removed from the rally, according to reports.
Trump, meanwhile, decided to taunt one of the hecklers as security dealt with the disruption. “That person’s going home to mom. Going to get scolded because mom is voting for us,” Trump said. “You know? Mom is voting.”
Trump had traveled to Myrtle Beach to boost Graham, the sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham who was appointed to finish her brother’s term, and is now trying to win the Republican nomination for a full term, despite foreign policy not being her thing.
But for a few moments Friday night, the president wasn’t the person in the room commanding everyone’s attention.
It belonged to an ordinary guy in a black T-shirt, standing in the middle of a Trump rally with both middle fingers in the air.
And sometimes a picture is really worth a thousand words.
We love people like this who aren’t afraid to stand up to power this way.
